Gypsy! ~ The Angel Pit Bull
Well guess what folks... I made it back to PetSmart today to see Gypsy. I was at my parent's house and asked them if they wanted to go see her too. My dad wanted to see her, since he's heard us talk a lot about her. (He actually has a soft spot for dogs, but shhhh, don't tell anyone.) Anyway, Gypsy's new dad & mom are great and love her so much. Her dad was holding Gypsy in the back. We didn't want to take our dogs too close to her because she still has flash backs and thinks the dogs are trying to fight her. We talked for about a 1/2 hour to him. Can you believe that they raised $10,000 to give for any information leading to a conviction of the person that did the horridness to Gypsy.... and no one still stepped forward. I'd like to cut the guy's ears off with a razor or scissors just like they did to her and throw him on the side of the road.
Her dad said that on the Tri-County Rescue site that they took a lot of the stuff off about Gypsy because they didn't want people to think they were "using" her to get $$. Out of all the letters and donations they received from all over the country, only about 4 or 5 were negative against Gypsy and pit bulls. Even Richard Pryor's wife, Jennifer, sent a letter and dontation. Isn't that cool!?!?
Her dad was nice enough to let me take some pictures of her and even hold her while he took a short break. She looked so great compared to what she's been through. I was watching her little nub of ears and when she would "normally" be putting her ears back, they wiggled just a little and it was so cute, but I couldn't imagine the pain she went through by some idiot cutting them off. They had a photo album of Gypsy's story with pictures and newspaper clippings. My dad was looking at it and I think he was amazed at everything. They said that Gypsy must have be "right pawed" because she still has a little bit of a hard time landing when she stands up on her back paws or jumps. You could tell she was spoiled rotten. What a lucky girl.
They also had a raffle of a drawing of a pit bull with angel wings that someone had drawn and dontated to the rescue. It was an awesome picture, I hope I can win it, but whomever does, they're a lucky person, it was a beautiful drawing. If I win it, it will be hanging on the wall going up my stairs for everyone to see.
In the bottom pic, you can kinda see the drawing they were raffling off. The other picture is of my dad and Gypsy. It was a great trip today. Although, I think Storm got just a little jealous that I was giving Gypsy attention for a little bit. But that's OK Stormie, I've got enough to go around for everyone.

Gypsy has come such a looong way from when we first saw her even throughout all her surgeries. What a beautiful and heartwarming dog. I'm so happy she has such a good and loving home.
You are so lucky to have been able to see her and that is aweful that she still suffers from flashbacks, but of course with all she has gone through, she is one very lucky and courageous puppy.
Seeing her as she looks today just joys my heart so much. To remember her beginning breaks my heart to the cruelty of man.
I wish I could have been there with you and THANK YOU for sharing with us your visit with Gypsy.
Does Gypsy's daddy plan on keeping a website for her to remind others from where she came from and how it took so much to bring her to where she is today?
She definately is a MIRICLE dog! I'm so happy to see her again.
I just loved being able to pet her and take pics of her. She's kind of like a hero to us and our pitties.
Hey there Andee,
She is so pretty. I almost want to cry every time I see her. One day I will help a pit bull like her. I want to adopt a dog who needs loving so bad!
Did you read that news story about the army guys in New Orleans who are claiming that pit bulls are forming packs and attacking people?
I saw the Animal Planet special on saving the pets affected by Katrina, and it sure seemed to me that the labs that were being saved were more aggressive than any of the pit bulls. What fools! I will have to see if I can find that article and post it on my blog.

Andee, I was wondering if you minded if I put up your post on Gypsy on my Truth about Pit bull page? I would obviously give you credit and send the Link back to you.
Do you mind?
Go for it! I don't deserve the credit, Tri-County deserves the credit.
I also have a "Gypsy's Page" on my other webpage:

It has some before & now pictures.
Oh yeah, about the army guys comment.... But this is JUST MY opinion.
If there was a "pack" of pit bulls, they probably already lived together. They're scared and just trying to protect themselves the only way they know how. And I sure they're not just running up & attacking, the guys are probably provoking the pits some how.
I just don't see pits that do not know each other forming packs out on their own. I guess it's possible, but hmmmm?
Now you have to look at the area... low class, poor people. On tv I've seen lots of pitbulls saved in crates. I would think that yes there probably are some vicious ones in there because just like anywhere in the country, that type of neighborhood can be known for dog fighting.
But I still can't fathom the idea of stranger pitbulls forming a pitbull pack....
Well, it seemed ridiculous to me also! I think that any animal in a state of shock like that, starving and thirsty, would probably not act like his/her normal self.
I just can't believe the stupidity of some of these people and their comments though! It is like they are just trying to make the issue with pit bulls worse by scaring people away from them!
Some people make me so angry.
