Cotton Gin Festival
This weekend we had a good ol' country-fied "Cotton Gin Festival" at the park above my house. This is where farm folk and country bumpkins come out of the woodworks! I had no idea we had so many around this area! This was the first year that I went to it... I took Storm to join along in the fun.
They had some people dressed up in civil war uniforms with a small cannon... don't let the word "small" fool you, it was EXTREMELY loud. Here are a few pictures... Needless to say, Storm didn't too much care for the loud boom that she heard, I think the vibrations through the ground scared her a bit too. But then again, I don't know of too many dogs that can handle such a loud "ka-boom"!
We got to eat funnel cake and bought some cotton-candy... *mmmm* We bought some boiled peanuts and a bag of homemade pork-rinds. Haven't tried them yet, but a sweet lady gave Storm a couple to taste test... They passed!
I hope that I educated a few people out there. I had her gentle leader on and almost everyone thought it was a muzzle. I noticed a few "if you have to put a muzzle on her, why did you bring her here" looks from some people. Some did ask if it was a muzzle & I politely corrected them saying it was a gentle leader, not a muzzle & explained how it worked. Kids really wanted to pet her... kids are not biased against pit bulls, they just see D~O~G~G~I~E. But many parents were afraid, except for the few that told me their stories of raising pits or their friend has a pit. I always told everyone, she's a licker, not a biter!
All in all the day went well. One of the stages where people had been playing blue-grass & gospel music was still set up, so I saw perfect photo op! People stopped to watch me take her pictures. Here's a couple of what we came up with...

hey stormie... nice pose u got there with the pumpkins. :)
Great pics! Look how well behaved Storm is next to the pumpkins.
I probably would have jumped out of my skin from the sound of that cannon :( These humans make many strange things that are so so loud.
Later!
WOW! I HAVE been away for a long time...have LOTS of posts to catch up on.
Along with the BOG BOOM, then the Smoke, it's enough to deafen you and blind you at the same time.
Naturally Storm looks so pretty amonst the pumpkins...and HAPPY!
Glad you keep educating people where ever you both go. That brings us a little closer to educating the public and you always find people that love the pitties as much as we do.
Take the opportunitie and run with it. Looks like a GREAT TIME!!!!
Storm really know how to post for photo shooting sessions :)
I think we all jumped when the cannon boomed!
chen, thanx for the visit! Sometimes Storm isn't as patient as she looks... the pictures worth posting are due to the burst effect with the camera... it takes a bunch of pictures while the button is held down. It helps BIG TIME!
