My Helix

Ok, this post has absolutely NOTHING to do with my dog, it's more to do with my mop, as in my hair! Today I had my hair cut. I've had this same hairstyle for over a decade now. Straight and limp. And I mean STRAIGHT and LIMP. Never would it EVER take a perm, back in the days that perms were cool. My hair never, ever had any body to it what so ever. Until now.

For those of you that have been blessed with natural body or curl in your hair, you may not think this is much, but to me & to those that have known me... know what my hair does.... absolutely nothing! Just look at my profile picture or the other pictures in my posts... that' it... straight.

This is a different way of cutting your hair. It uses special scissors and a special technique of cutting, or should I say sculpting. I was 100% sceptical when I was told about this type of cut from a dear friend. But seeing is believing.

I couldn't get this much of a curl & body with a curling iron. And this is done with a cut. No brushes, no curlers, just a hair defuser, and a helix cut!

I've called several salons, day spas, etc. and no one has heard of it around here, much less do it. If they know what's good for them, maybe they should take up this style of sculpting!

Check out the site www.myhelix.com

Just in case you read this.... thanx Mike for the new style! If you're ever in Gatlinburg, TN, stop by Resort Salon of Gatlinburg and see Mike!!

WOW ANDEE!!! You look like a totally new person!!! I LOVED how you looked before and this new style is just as amazing.
I have the bone straight hair too and used to do the spiral perms for years (plus mega migraines from the 200 perm rods and that stinky solution) that finally I came up with the times and had a cut and style done.
It's unbelievable how they can style it to add body and texture to your hair when it would normally just fall bone straight no matter what you did to it.
I see you also changed the colour. It looks really nice.
I'm thinking of adding colour (highlights/lowlights with multi colours), but to go with my personality, want some cool coloured streaks too...like purples, blues, etc.
Hey...you only live once right! ROL

The coloring was a mistake... it kinda turned auburn instead of a sandy color... Oh well... I was amazed at how my hair instantly had a bit of body. Now if I could only figure out how to style it!! I'm used to blow drying it straight!
