Dealing Dogs on HBO
Last night I watched a documentary on HBO called Dealing Dogs . It was about Class B dog dealers that buy & sell dogs for research and to vet schools. They're suppose to treat the dogs humanely and take care of them if they're sick, etc. But does this kennel do it that they are doing the documentary on.... NO. Martin Creek Kennels in Arkansas, fortunately for the dogs, has been shut down due to this undercover study.
If the dog had heartworms, they killed it & sold the organs. If the dog was scared and wouldn't move, they hit it or jerked it around. If the dog was trying to protect itself because it was getting beat, they shot it in the head. The dogs were so cramped in the kennels, there would be several dead dogs each week.
I would not have been able to keep my cool like the undercover guy did. I guess he looked at is as... it's a sacrifice of a few to save many more. It's such a shame that people could treat the dogs like this. And they did it for the money. Buying dogs for $20 at a flea market and then selling them for around $250 to research labs and schools.
It's a must watch, but for the true dog lover, it will rip your heart out. For those pooches that are in a loving home, they really don't realize how good they've got it. Watching this will make you appreciate what you do for your dog & love your dog that much more.

Just reading it has made me mad enough. I think I'll skip on watching it if I don't want a heart attack.
Those (and others) people who mistreat/torture animals. Really must control myself and hope I never ever meet or see anything like this in my lifetime.
The things people would do for money. :(

Realism isn't always pretty and the more I see of how little compassion there is in what they call the 'Intelligent Race' the more cinical I become.
It's a crime and injustice against a God given creature.
I couldn't watch the movie. I didn't have the heart to watch what I knew would upset me anymore than I am now.
But I do think it is good for you to put this up for all to see Andee. For those who aren't aware of all the horrid things the human animal is capable of, yet the have the nerve to call certain breeds of dogs vicious and dangerous.

That's right.... and they call specific breeds dangerous. What about the human breed such as those.
I'll skip on watching it too, I really don't want to see how those people treat the dogs, thanks for your info anyway.
It's real funny that people doing the study to try to keep other dogs more healthier but on the other hand they killing dogs for doing the study!!
Unfair!!
I watched a similar undercover video sometime ago where they killed cats and dogs for their skin in China. The dogs were packed in small cages that shouldn't even hold one dog. What they did, I will not get into it since it was worst than death itself.
Just reading this let me find it difficult to keep my cool.
I'm so annoyed right now! comming from an SPCA and knowing what its like to just be in there without a family. That is nothing compared to what some of these dogs have to go through everyday! I mean being in the SPCA was torture, but atleast I was taken great care of to they best they could with so many other dogs around. But this is completly different! They were keeping me there to get me a family! Not to torture and eventually murder me! GRR! Man, wold I LOVE to bite those people right in the behind! See how they like torture...
anyways, I think I will watch the show. My owner is the kind of person who likes to know whats going on with animals and try to help the best she can. =D Mind you she may get so mad that she changes the cannel, but atleast she will see a portion of it!
