11th Annual Gaston County Toy Run For Kids

On December 2, 2006, Gaston County held the 11th Annual Toy Run For Kids, that is organized by several motorcycle clubs, ministries, and organizations... Southern Gentlemen M/C, Soldiers For Christ B/M, His Laboring Few B/M, The Blue Knights, Travlin' Lights B/M, H.O.G., Carolina Faith Riders, and The Red Knights, just to name a few.

I have been attending some of the organization meetings that are held weekly and are started back in September. This isn't a quick-throw it together event, lots of planning goes into this. I was able to ride on this run for the first time, other than on the back of a bike. I was thrilled to be a part of such a huge success. Over 1,300 bikers opened up their hearts and showed Gaston County that there are still "good people" out there. There were five stops through out the ride at different cities within Gaston County. Hundreds of less fortunate children were able to receive presents from this event.

What makes this ride so special you ask??? At each stop, you can go to the trucks loaded with toys and watch the children's eyes light up when they receive toys. Talk about something pulling at the ol' heart strings. I remember hearing a mother telling bikers standing around that this was the first time her son, who was 12, had ever had a skateboard. When you hear something like that, you know you've done some good to the community.
I hope this event continues to grow and grow. It's a wonderful thing for the community.

Here are some photos of the parking areas at the church where the run starts. Look at the sea of bikes!

Hey there. That is such a good idea! I had a friend down here years ago who use to ride bikes, and they did a toy drive out at Daytona Beach! It is such a a great thing to do!

Hope you and Storm-E girl are doing well!
