Dogtoberfest
Well, today is my birthday and I wasn't too excited about waking up this morning, because it's the big 3-0. Yes, that's right, I will now start my age with a different number. *sigh* Anyway, the only thing that got me out of bed this morning was Dogtoberfest at the park here in town. So I scooped up Storm, my mom, & the 2 bostons and away we went. I must admit, I think we all had a pretty good time. I actually almost forgot it was my birthday... almost.
There were contests, so of course being the 30 year old kid that I am, I just had to enter some of them (mind you, I wasn't the oldest kid there either). The first contest that I entered was the "treat catching" contest. I decided Storm would be best for that one. All was going well, until the people beside of me destracted Storm's attention and idiot me, threw the treat, and she missed. But that's ok because we came in 2nd!! The next event we entered was the "barking" contest. We all know that a dog will bark when we don't want it to, but when asked to bark... nothing. Well, Storm barked 9 times in 1 minute. The winner barked 84 times in 1 minute. Needless to say, Storm didn't win that one. The last event I entered was the "t-shirt race". I just knew Delilah
would be great at that, because I used to dress her up all the time when she was a pup. We had to run down a field, get a shirt that fit out of a tub, put it on the dog, and run back across the finish line. Delilah and I did it in 23 seconds flat!! Wa-hoo, Delilah got 1st place!! :)
Different little tents were set up giving out little freebies, etc. It was a perfect day for this too. I'm going to put more pictures on my other webpage in a day or so. I'll put a few up on my blog too!

Dogtoberfest sounds like sooooo much fun!!! I've never seen anything like that for dogs in my life. It sounds like a kids thing only for dogs. I think the word should be spread around as this would be fun for adults, kids and pets alike. Who puts this on Andee?
The Animal League of Gaston County put this on. It was for adults, kids, & of course dogs!
During the summer time they also have a "Just Plain Dog Show" at the park, with basically the same events. But it's ONLY for kids 9th grade and under. (I think) Regardless, no adults in the contest. So that leaves Storm out because I don't have any kids to accompany her.
But it's still fun to take all the poochies out there!
