Skydive Carolina (Part 1)
Well, today's post has nothing at all to do with my amstaff. She told me she didn't care to see what I was about to do. I went skydiving; yes that's right, I jumped out of a perfectly good airplane. Although I was told there weren't any "perfect" airplanes.
It's something that I can now say... I've been there, done that. Scratch that one off my list.
We went 2 and 1/2 miles up in the air (about 13,000 feet) WAAAAY up above the clouds. I got to "co-pilot" the plane for a few minutes. The plane held about 20 people and a couple of us "tandum" jumpers.
A "tandum" jump is where you're attached to an instructor that knows what he's doing. Thank goodness he knew, 'cause I sure didn't! My nerves really got to me when we were standing on the edge of the plane in process of jumping. Yikes! But after that, it was great! We were free-falling at 120mph. After Ken (my instructor) pulled the cord, we floated around for a while. Dummy me asked if we could spin... and we did. All in all, it was fun!
Here are some pictures. This first picture is of Melissa, me, and Melissa's Uncle Abe. This is right after we were suited up.
Here I am doing some fancy flying... ok so maybe I am just sitting there! But it was still pretty cool! The plane was a bit noisy.
Here is my instructor, Ken. He was pretty cool & crazy! I think he said he's jumped over 3,000 times.
We were climbing way high in the sky!
This is what it looked like standing on the edge of the plane. There goes Melissa, with her instructor and the videographer!
Now, can you blame me for getting a little nervous standing on the edge?!?!
