Pitbull Rescued

Hello all, I know it's been awhile since I've blogged... but I haven't forgotten about everyone. I just wanted to report that I helped save a pitbull from being pts! It was my first rescue. A friend told me about one that had just been sent to the pound, so I got in touch with my friend Fee that has "pitbull connections" and after a day of hoping and praying, the next day... a girl agreed to go pick the pitbull up from the pound and take her to a foster home.

That news made me so happy!

I hope that we'll get some pictures of her soon. If so, I'll definitely post so everyone can see.

Thank you so much Fee for all your help! You're an angel!

PIT BULL INVOLVED IN INCIDENT WITH CHILD AT AKC EVENT!!!

This article was sent to me by Laura, a boxer mom. She thought it was worthy of the webpage, and so do I. Thanx Laura!

Pit bulls are called American Staffordshire Terriers in the AKC.

AP NEWS: BERRYVILLE , VA APRIL 5 2007

From the World Wide WebPolice were called today to the Clarke County Fairgrounds to investigate an incident involving a Pit Bull Terrier dog and a 9 year old child. According to witnesses, the child was walking near the show rings unsupervised when she suddenly came face to face with the 70 lb Pit Bull Terrier dog.

The child threw her arms around the dog's neck, reports say, when the unthinkable happened. The dog began enthusiastically licking the girl's face as his tail wagged briskly."It was awful", said one bystander, "there was nothing we could do. That dog was just giving that child every once of love he had and no one did a thing to stop it".

Another witness, who took video of the event, said "This happens all the time, I don't know how it hasn't made the news before now". One spectator, who declined to be named in this interview, told reporters, "The sounds were just heartwrenching, all that laughing and giggling. It made me smile so hard my face hurts. I plan to sue for pain and suffering".

The handler of the dog admits this is not the first time such an incident has occurred, and that the owners were "well aware of the stable, loving, and patient temperament of this dog". The owners were unavailable for comment. Police state that the handler, who was noticeably unrepentant, was cited for Reckless Entertainment. The dog was given roasted chicken treats and was not taken into custody.

Sorry... Happy Late Valentines Day

Storm and I hope everyone had a nice valentines day.

I'm laying in bed sick and Storm thinks its funny. She says that's what I get for riding the motorcycle in the mid 40s weather. Maybe she's right, but it sure was fun!

11th Annual Gaston County Toy Run For Kids

On December 2, 2006, Gaston County held the 11th Annual Toy Run For Kids, that is organized by several motorcycle clubs, ministries, and organizations... Southern Gentlemen M/C, Soldiers For Christ B/M, His Laboring Few B/M, The Blue Knights, Travlin' Lights B/M, H.O.G., Carolina Faith Riders, and The Red Knights, just to name a few.

I have been attending some of the organization meetings that are held weekly and are started back in September. This isn't a quick-throw it together event, lots of planning goes into this. I was able to ride on this run for the first time, other than on the back of a bike. I was thrilled to be a part of such a huge success. Over 1,300 bikers opened up their hearts and showed Gaston County that there are still "good people" out there. There were five stops through out the ride at different cities within Gaston County. Hundreds of less fortunate children were able to receive presents from this event.

What makes this ride so special you ask??? At each stop, you can go to the trucks loaded with toys and watch the children's eyes light up when they receive toys. Talk about something pulling at the ol' heart strings. I remember hearing a mother telling bikers standing around that this was the first time her son, who was 12, had ever had a skateboard. When you hear something like that, you know you've done some good to the community.
I hope this event continues to grow and grow. It's a wonderful thing for the community.

Here are some photos of the parking areas at the church where the run starts. Look at the sea of bikes!

My friend and I amongst the parade of motorcycles going through the streets of the county.

Back to the beach

When we went to pick my mom up from the beach, my dad and I took ALL the dogs. It was Delilah and Rose's first beach trip. Delilah didn't like the water too much, but Rosie was right there with Storm. They had a pretty good time I think!

Here is Delilah getting her first facial!

Time to go home.

Show Time

This past Sunday we went to a pitbull show up in Taylorsville, NC. They had a show and weight pulling going on. Really neat to watch. I also got to meet a fellow pitbull lover with whom I've chatted back & forth in email. Hi Felicia! It was really cool to meet ya... in person! Hope to make to the next show too!

Unfortunately, I didn't get to take Storm with me. But at the show, there was the next closest thing... an almost identical look alike to Storm! Her name was Luna, she was just as adorable and sweet like Storm. Can you tell which picture is of Storm? Look for yourself! (Hint: Storm's picture is taken inside a house.

Take a look at the dog in the center of the pic... isn't he huge?!?!?!

Puppy buddy

When Storm and I went to pick up dog food, we ran into a new friend. Riggs, he was the puppy Storm met at the Dogtoberfest (a few posts back). I must say, Riggs has grown quite a bit. He is so cute and his fur is so soft!

Look how little Riggs looks compared to Storm in this pic.

Now look how big he is in this one.

Funny!
